Wymondham Legends kitted out in Gameface gear retained their UEA 7's crown after a tense and hard fought final that hinged just on one missed conversion.
Ikale 7, also in Gameface kit, were one of the best teams to play at UEA in recent years and looked favourite and they took an early lead but the Legends hit back to draw level. Ikale, without their former England star Ayoola Erinle who had a hamstring strain, took the lead again with an unconverted try but Wymondham Legends stoic resolve turned the tables with a final converted score to win 14-12. The two had met earlier in an enthralling group match that halted matches on the other pitch as the huge crowd were treated to a festival of local 7's play.
Losing semi-finalist Old Bobtonians and Champagne would also have been worthy winner but they were just not strong enough.
In the Ladies competition Southwold overcame Lakenham in another hard fought final. Thanks to the UEA for organising a fantastic event and to the Norfolk Referees society who did a fantastic job of controlling all the games so successfully.
